Nemak among the winners of the 2020 International Aluminum Die Casting Competition

Nemak has been awarded for its PHEV battery housing at the 4th International Aluminum Die Casting Competition 2020. This housing is a complex frame produced in an aluminum die casting process using a three-plate tool ensuring extreme stiffness and leak tightness of the casting.

The use of a naturally hard AlSi9Mn alloy eliminates the need for any heat treatment. With this, Nemak demonstrates its manufacturing expertise goes far beyond state-of-the-art casting.

The battery housing was developed in close collaboration with the Nemak development centers in Poland and Frankfurt and a leading global premium OEM and is being produced in Žiar nad Hronom, Slovakia.

The competition is organized by the German Aluminum Association with the support of the Federation of the German Foundry Industry, the Professional Association of the Non-ferrous Metal Industry of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and the Swiss Aluminum Association.
