The family of Rautenbach who built a foundry for aluminum castings in 1935 from an old wagon factory could hardly imagine that the Wernigerode site is now an important part of a global acting group. Today, the plant in the German federal state Saxony-Anhalt is a recognized and reliable partner of the automotive industry, which is in demand also because of the competence of its product development center.
The Wernigerode plant belongs to Nemak since 2005. Currently, approximately 500 employees are employed here (as of 31.12.2015 ). Core products are cylinder heads. In addition, engine blocks and chassis parts are manufactured. The total capacity of the plant is 1.8 million castings per year.
With the ever increasing demands on transmission components adequate expertise for development and production is essential to be an innovative partner to the customers. Wernigerode site has strong capabilities to fulfill this aspiration. For example, cylinder heads are manufactured in specially refined Rotacast® Mold Casting Process at the site. For the production of cylinder blocks, dynamic processes can be highlighted, e.g. the Rotacast® process for casting.
